It seems unlikely that Reece James will play for England in the World Cup, after the Chelsea Football Club announced that he will be out of action for eight weeks.
The 22-year-old, who has made 15 appearances for England, suffered an ankle injury in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.
In five weeks, the World Cup will begin, on November 20 this year in Qatar, which will host the games for the first time.
Some defenders of England who are recovering include Kyle Walker of the Manchester City football team and Trent Alexander-Arnold of the Liverpool football team.
